Community

As a regionally based, not-for-profit health fund, being community minded is part of who we are. We invest in the communities where we live and work, creating meaningful opportunities for our people to contribute and for our members to stand proudly with us in making a positive impact.
Our community engagement strategy ensures the programs we support drive meaningful change and improve the health and wellbeing of our local communities.

Geelong Cats Community Bay
We know that footy is better when it's shared! The 2026 GMHBA Community bay at GMHBA Stadium is designed to bring local not-for-profit organisations and community groups together, to experience the magic of a home game at GMHBA Stadium, from their own dedicated section.
This year we've welcomed over 900 individuals from 18 local community groups to join in a memorable match-day experience, with this support set to continue through to the end of the 2026 AFL season.

Community partnerships
GMHBA partners with organisations that support the health and wellbeing of our community, with a focus on proven preventative mental health and wellbeing programs.
We partner with trusted and respected local community organisations who work tirelessly to support local communities.

Employee engagement
Giving back is part of the culture at GMHBA and we’re proud of the way our employees participate and get involved.
All employees can participate in one day paid volunteer day per year, and can access leave to give Lifeblood donations.
Our Workplace Giving program provides an easy way for our people to contribute to collective impact, benefiting our local communities through partners like Give Where You Live Foundation.

Geelong Cats sponsorship
As a member focused health organisation, we are passionate about delivering real value for our members by investing in relationships that contribute to building stronger and healthier communities.
Two of Geelong's most iconic organisations, GMHBA and the Geelong Cats, have joined forces in a unique long term partnership. Both organisations have a long and proud history of supporting Geelong and regional Victoria. This partnership demonstrates their shared commitment to the region and its people and allows us to actively promote GMHBA, connect us with new audiences, while positively influencing the health of our communities.
GMHBA members can also access exclusive Cats Rewards as part of the partnership.

University partnerships
Supporting research and partnering with academic institutions is an important element of GMHBA’s commitment to supporting the health of our members and patients, alongside our broader contribution to the community.
We have partnered with Universities on a variety of projects in different ways, including; grant submission support, dissemination of research outcomes, engagement in research via seminars, articles and social media, recruitment of participants, and, providing education opportunities for clinicians working in our health care businesses.
